Retouching Brush shape

Unread postby Kgeo » 09.04.2009 16:29

it would be very helpful, to get some other shapes for retouching brush, e.g. quadrat (with small quadrat inside), triangle and ellipse.

I really wish this would be mac compatible without having to use parallels or similar to get it to run on mac. Please,Please. I have left windows and am now a mac user. I have tried Aperture, Lightroom, Elements8. After using Helicon for years, I just can't get my head around why these other programs are used by anyone!! Helicon Filter does everything I need to do, plus more that I may never do, and does it all so easily. I really don't want to use Parallels, but I will if I absolutely have to. It is my dream to use Helicon on a computer that isn't always screwing up. Sorry Windows users, but I just can't live in that camp anymore.

Please note that this is a beta version. We will add many more functions like adding text or replacing colors till the release. You are welcome to test this version and give us your comments and suggestions.

Hi there,

I use your software in version 4.X for a while now and I'm very happy with it.

I just downloaded the latest Beta 5. It's extremely slow ! That's all I can say for the moment. Slow in navigation (try to click on a folder that contains 600 JPG of 5 to 9 Mb) and very slow to display RAW pictures.

I did not start to work with it at the moment but I'm so badly surprized by the delays that I'll certainly wait for improvement before I use it again.

Back to 4x.

I'm sure you can do a lot better.

Cheers

I hope you will keep an eye on our new versions. We already fixed the problem with big folders and we are working on optimizing the other aspects of the program. You are welcome to install both version and use both of them.

Hi Stas,
Only good news then!
I'll check that as soon as possible. When do you plan to release the next beta?
Cheers

I believe Helicon Filter 5 could use an easier method of straightening images. My favorite method is usually to "draw" a horizon line into the image and have the editor rotate the image accordingly (i.e. "drawing" a line along edges of an object on the image which should either become horizontal or vertical in the corrected image). Also an overlayed grid just for rotating would be helpful.

You can use this method too. If you press Ctrl and draw a line on Resize tab it will work the same way. We will make this functonality more evident.

I have been using with much pleasure version 4.8 and since a few weeks I am using Version 5.0 beta.
In both versions I strongly miss the possibility to select a color for the lines/cross/etc in "Resize". Now it is standard only in green and when resizing pictures taken in nature (which often at least are partly green!), I can only find the corners and the center cross with much difficulty. So it would be very helpful if I can choose the color of the lines/cross/etc. I can image there are several other types and colors of the pictures where it will be very helpful if you choose a (contrasting) color for the lines/cross/etc yourself.

Succes with further improvements of version 5.
