Please send us (Yatsenko.Stas@gmail.com) remote_control.log from the Helicon Focus folder. It will help us to understand why D90 is not detected.

"USB mass storage" mode

Post by Stas Yatsenko »

We found that the program does not detect the camera if you use "USB mass storage" mode in your camera. Please switch to PTP instead of USB mode, this should help.

d90-ptpmode

Post by chaos1 »

thx for the fast reply, but the d90 should already be in ptp-mode! found no way to switch between usb and ptp.
from another forum:

Here is the response from Nikon. "Thank you for emailing us. Again we apologize but the D90 does not act as a mass storage device while connected to your computer as the only transfer modes available are PTP/MTP. Because the camera does not act as a Mass Storage Mode you will not be able to view the camera the same way you are able to with the D80"

We still cannot get D90 for tests, so no updates so far. We will release new version with newer dlls, maybe this will help.

Please use this test programs (http://downloads.heliconfilter.com/Niko ... ograms.zip) to detect your Nikon cameras. Run the program and press "1". The utility will report if the camera is detected or not. If this Nikon sample program is able to detect the camera, we will be able to do it as well.

Klaus,

Thanks, we will update Helicon Remote with the newest libraries that comes with 2.6 version. Strange, but Nikon still have old modules on their site for developers.

Just discovered and install this interesting software suite. Sweet! The remote program worked without a hitch with my Nikon D90. I did some macro shots of seashells sitting on the desk next to my computer. The software has a lot of promise.

I was, however, confused as to the best setting for both my D90 and the 60mm Nikkor Micro (macro) lens I was using. What are the suggested settings for both please?

DOF Calculator in the Helicon Remote will give you number of steps between shots for a given aperture (f5.6-8 gives max resolution), if you mean these settings. But please note that you may need to correct this value according to your lens.
