Canon EOS M50 (EOS Kiss M)

Post by Sterling »

<t>Does the Canon EOS M50 (EOS Kiss M) (to be released shortly) work with Helicon remotes such as the Helicon Tube or the Helicon Remote?

I assume Helicon Remote won't be able to support M50, just like all the previous EOS M series cameras. But if someone with this cameras wants to run some tests for us, we can spend some time and see what can be done.

As for the FB Tube: the tube works with EOS M and EOS M3 through the EF mount adapter. Presumably, it will also work with M50 the same way, but we cannot be sure until someone tries it.

Hello,

I bought the M50 for Helicon Remote!

Bad to see now, that it is not supported. But why?
Can you add the M50 for testing?

Thank you!

I'm not sure why you did that, we never listed M50 is supported, we never listed it as such anywhere. Nor any other Canon mirrorless camera.
The previous reply in this topic still stands. Is there any remote control software that works with your new M50? Does Canon EOS Utility or the Canon Connect mobile app support M50? Does it let you see live view?

Hello,

oh yes, I see. I don´t know that the M serie are not supported.

Guess I have to send the cam back and maybe the Canon 80D is a better choice.

I found now this:

Hello,
I am using a Canon 5d Mark 2 for stacking but it would be a nice too have if I can use my new m50 in special situations.

The Canon EOS M50 should work with EOS Utility.

The M50 does indeed work with the EOS Utility, I tested it yesterday with version 3.11.0 on Windows.

Libraw has recently added support for CR3 files https://www.libraw.org/news/libraw-snapshot-201910
Possibly that's one third party component you were waiting on?

I have an M50 and I'm willing to help you test the support for this camera.

We are working on M50 support and are hoping to have a working beta version quite soon. We appreciate your offer to help testing and we'll gladly take you up on it when the time comes.

Canon M50 works with EOS Utility and with Canon Connect mobile app.
But it still doesn´t work with Helicon Remote

I am on stand by to buy the Holicon premium package, but without the support for Canon M50 it makes no sense.

I am happy to test the Helicon Remote beta android/apple app, in order to speed up the process
