_ProcessData

Unread postby PJS » 01.01.2014 06:17

Hi, I am a new Helicon Filter User. I do like it.
I notice that HF puts a folder _ProcessData in both my originals folder and the folder where I save my modified pictures.
I would like to know the purpose of each of these.
Thanks.

Helicon Filter saves processing parameters and original files in those folders. Thanks to this information you can always use menu\File\Reprocess original command to revert or edit changes which you made to original file.

You can disable this feature though: go to Preferences\Other and uncheck Allow non-destructive edits.

Thanks Stas, I understand now. However as I save my modified pictures in a separate folder to my originals, I am still a bit uncertain why _ProcessData folder also appears in my originals folder. The original photos do not appear to have been altered from what came out of the camera.
Thanks

Helicon Filter saves edit parameters there even if you save the resulting file to different folder. Suppose you edited A\a.jpg and saved it to B\b.jpg

The next day you can open B\b.jpg and select "menu\File\Reprocess original" command. The program will load A\a.jpg and all edits from _ProcessData folder. You will be able to change editing parameters, disable some filters, insert new filters before existing ones, etc.

Thanks again Stas. I tried it out - a very convenient process.
