Stacking HDR series

Post by MikeCT »

Remote allows you to take several shots at different exposures for each step in a stacking sequence. Is there a way for Focus to detect this and stack all the +1EV shots, then all the 0Ev, followed by the -1EV?

I don't think there is a way in Helicon to do this. I've just done a series like this and took advice from the Helicon Team.
It was the Helicon stacks first.
Then merge them in HDR.
Took some time to achieve --- but worth it

This is easily doable, the function you're looking for is "Split stack" under Batch process (File -> Batch Process, or simply F7). Drop your entire set of HDR stacks into the batch processing dialog, press the button on the very right of the newly added row, and select Split stack -> By exposure.

I feel foolish: I had used this to batch process a time series, I just never looked at the other options. Works like a charm. The attached is from 3 levels of exposure, 60 shots in each stacked then merged into HDR. The actual size of the flower is ~1/4" across. The full file is 72MB
