Wow this business of PPI etc. is really confusing and full of myths as well as being misunderstood by many professionals. After some intensive studying I have a better understanding of your remarks. But with that said I am still confused as to why Helicon renders a photo from NEF files at 72 PPI while rendering the same photos that were converted to TIFF or JPEG files at 240 PPI.

Helicon Focus does not change DPI setting that is stored in EXIF information embedded into the file. Default is 72 dpi, after convertion to jpeg or tiff this value is probably changed to 240 dpi by the convertion program.
