Moth Eggs

Unread postby Charles Krebs » 03.09.2007 21:07

These small moth eggs were found on a leaf. They are just about ready to hatch. The top image is illuminated from above (using fiber optic illuminators) and you can see the nice texture of the eggs. The second is illuminated from blow (microscope condenser) and you see the small caterpillars inside, ready to hatch.

Images are from 23 image "z"stacks. Taken using an Olympus BHS microscope with Olympus 4X S Plan Apo objective. Canon 350D camera.
