New frame type

Unread postby Ariel » 05.06.2007 03:45

Perhaps there can be another type of frame which blends into the picture, not just frames with a frame going on top of the picture. I mean, artistic effects with splotchy frames, frames with a solid color transitioning into the picture, "frames" with darkened edges of the picture or other effects, and even some other effects like oval frames (inside and/or outside edge of frame), with the background transparent if saved as PNG, white if JPG.

Ariel,

Yes, we tried with transparent PNG files, but there are some technical problems so far. We will surely try to implement this later.

Hello,

first I want to say that I'm very impressed about Helicon Filter. Actually I'm on the search for a new Raw-Converter because I'm not happy with the noise handling (I don't want to call it noise reduction) of Canon's DPP.
After some other programs I landed at HF. One big advantage of HF for me is, that I normally don't have to use an other Software like PSE to finish my Pictures.
At this Point of my assey  I come back to the topic. I love wide formated Pictures. For these Pictures I often use a frame like this:

So, in my opinion there should gererally/optionally be the possibility to specify the thickness of the frame seperately for the horizontal and vertical direction or even each side seperately.

Greetings firexball

The release notes say that version 4.7 can change frame width, but I don't see the tool to do that. :?:

Well, you can move the image inside of the frame, but you can't change the proportions of the whole image. We have this point in our to do list but it is hard to implement so far.

So what does this mean, "Frames tab: frame can be set wider now"?

Wider: in earlier version you were able to set frame to max 25% of the image size. Now you can set it to 50%, so that the image appears as a small thumbnail on the backgroung image. A couple of users requested this feature.
