Straight line for brushes

Unread postby Ariel » 16.02.2007 07:47

I have an idea which would let one move a brush in a straight line if wanted.

Have an angle of brush box which people can type in an angle that the brush would go in. And when they hold down a letter in the keyboard or press a button next to that angle box, the brush would only go in that direction.

--------

Maybe also make it so if set to go in a straight line, the angle of the brush can be changed by scrolling with the mouse wheel.

And how about a similar thing for the angle of brush action for the distort and delete scratches brush?

You can draw a straight line by clicking with shift pressed. The program will draw a line between current and previous point.

Angle of the brush: you can change this angle by Ctrl-Mouse Wheel

Are these hints mentioned in the program? An intuitive program would.

If you hold shift with the first click, the brush doesn't work in the first clicked spot.

When you move the mouse over something or select an option, a helpful line of information or a useful hint should show up at the bottom of the screen. I understand that this already happens for some things, but if you are using a brush, or if you move the mouse over a brush type, tab, or icon, helpful information should always show up.

we avoid such a help because tooltips is very annoying in some cases. But you are right, the message in the status bar would be very helpful

It doesn't have to show up next to the mouse. I REALLY like the way Inkscape does it.
I suggest downloading Inkscape and moving the mouse over different things and selecting different things. It is really helpful and not annoying the way they give hints and the hints they give. And they also include lots of times in the hints a quick keyboard shortcut, which is nice.
