Posibility to view blown-out hilights or shadows

Unread postby trondeh » 10.04.2005 22:49

Hi!

It woul be great to have the posibility to have some sort of indication of blown-out pixels when ajusting the brightness settings, especially the exposure control. Could that be implemented, either as blinking pixels, or as pixels shown in some contrast color?

Trondeh,

You can check overblown pixels with histogram. I think you'd better select color histogram in the file->preferences.
And then switch on the histogram on the brightness tab. You will see if RGB values of pixels are blown out

Have look at how this is done in Raw Shooter, or the raw converter of Photoshop. Excellent control, you can exactly see where you have the blown-out parts of your picture. Having a histogram only indicates that you indeed have blow-out pixels, but not where. Also advanced digi-cams and DSLR's have this function, for a really good reason!
