Display of active focus points (Canon RAW)

Unread postby SWUK » 06.11.2008 03:43

Apparently the latest version of Canon's DPP can show the active focus points in a RAW image. Is there any chance HF could do the same?

If so it'd provide invaluable feedback on how well I tracked a moving subject!

Yes, this is very interesting information. Can you upload couple of sample image to http://heliconsoft.com/ftp.html for tests?

Thanks Dan!

I've uploaded three Canon 40D raw images to the "focuspoints" subfolder, as follows:

IMG_2269 - leftmost focus point used
IMG_2270 - topmost focus point
IMG_2271 - center focus point

I guess different cameras in the EOS range may have different embedded data due to having different focussing systems. I've only got the 40D, so those are the only samples I can provide. The 50D apparently has the exact same focusing system but of course a different sensor, so I have no clue if the data is the same.

If any further images would help please let me know. I could probably get images from different cameras from various forums I visit if necessary.
