Order of images inconsistent

Unread postby gregbenz » 10.07.2011 23:01

I'm using the latest Helicon Remote and a Stack Shot. When I try to combine the images in Helicon Focus, I'm getting a couple of errors consistently: one about images not being in a consistent order (not possible since I'm using the focus rail) and one about variable brightness (my flashes are on manual and have plenty of time to recycle, and the image brightness looks consistent to me). Any ideas? Seems like a bug...

The best solution would be if you send us this stack for tests. You are welcome to upload it on our ftp server as described at http://www.heliconsoft.com/ftp.html

Thanks Stas, I'm uploading an example in a ZIP file in a subfolder called "inconsistent-order-example"

Most probably the problem appears because of the black area at the bottom of the image. It is not part of the object but the program tries to align it. This causes mislignments and such a warning.

Thanks, I'll avoid that (it was a clamp). I believe I saw the error with other stacks that had only the image. My theory is that this particular object has low contrast in some parts and that perhaps that is an issue.

This warning appears only if images after alignment have inconsistent maginification change. For example:

100%, 101%, 103% - this is ok, every next image is larger than the previous one

100%, 98%, 95% - this is also ok, every next image is smaller than the previous one

100%, 98%, 99% - this is not ok, second is smaller, third is larger - a warning will appear

That seems to hold true for the images I shot. However, that clamp was in the exact same spot for every image. Why wouldn't it treat it all as part of the same object? I'm sure there will be many times when I will have a clamp or other support in the image (to be retouched out later) because that's the easiest way to set up the product. At what point does a separate object become an issue?

Thanks!,

This is quite difficult to explain. Imagine you have two object, one in the center of the image and anothr much closer somewhere at the edge (like a clamp). When you move camera or change focus, the relative position of two object changes because not only magnification is different but also view point (entrance point of the lens) has different position. Moreover, your nearest object is out of focus, which means it is not possible to align it properly.

I've been getting the order inconsistent message as well.

i've noticed that if I drag and drop a selection of files that they do not load in numerical order, even if they've been named numerically. The first image always ends up somewhere down the line in Helicon. By manually rearranging the order, everything works well.

Hi there, I'm struggling to take a decent order of shots with Remote. When the shots are being uploaded from the camera to a folder, the first shot is fine, but then the rest are in a random order so when importing them into Focus, it errors with an inconsistent order. Please help. Just upgraded today and need to start shooting. Thanks!

Hello,

Could you please explain what do you mean by random order? Images taken is sequence should always have names assigned in the same order, is it not so in your case?
