Missing slider "Belichtung" ("Exposure")

Unread postby Carsten » 08.08.2005 20:23

Hi,

I am currently testing 3.10.2 and it seems to be missing the exposure slider that should be above the highlights and shadows sliders.

Did my PC eat it or is it a bug? In 3.0 (which installs in English language) the slider is present.

Regards,
Carsten

Carsten,

We have hidden this slider. The same effect can be achieved now with Autocontrast sliders.

I am thinking now about returning this slider....

Hi Dan,

yes, I think returning the slider would be a good idea ...

... thinking more about it, auto contrast indeed achieves all that is needed.

However, may be for user interface it is slightly more intuitive to have
- contrast range: select how much of the original contrast range you want to keep
- contrast shift: select minimum value that will be mapped to zero.

Actually, in order to be perfect, you should implement what they call a "soft knee": don't clip values below min and above max, but use a smooth curve.
So you'd add a parameter such as "contrast soft clip"
Should I explain more?

Carsten,

I think I understand you.

You want that the curve formed by autocontrast sliders was not a broken line but something like S-curve.

I is not simple to implement, but the most important, I do not know who would use it. I'd like to keep the program logic streight and clear
