Over exposed and histogram not matching camera

Post by Springsdude »

Hello,
I've been using Helicon Remote on a Droid Maxx with my Nikon D5300. Recently, with "over exposed" and histogram checked on Helicon Remote, I did a screen capture with the Droid Maxx in order to compare these readings with the camera's. I have found that Helicon Remote reports over exposed way before the camera does. The same goes for the histogram.
Is there any way to calibrate these tools to be more inline with the camera's Interpretation? If not, this might be a nice addition to Helicon Remote.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, it's not possible. The histogram is calculated based on live view image, and Nikon cameras (save for D4, D5 and D800) don't even have live view exposure simulation so live view exposure has no relation whatsoever to the actual image exposure.
