Focus shift

Post by Hervey »

hello...

shooting using a nikon810 and 105mm ..

I am using a turntable to take several stacks of the same object... and after 20/30 stacks, the focus has shifted.. and so nothing is in focus anymore...
It looks like if the focus has shifted towards the cam...

any idea...

Should I re-enter both close&far points after a few stacks ?

thanks

The focus will drift - faster with some lenses, slower with others. Yes, you need to recalibrate the focus points periodically.

I have had a similar problem. One workaround is to deliberately set the initial end points well beyond what is needed. While it means the stacking program deals with unneeded shots, it avoids losing some in-focus shots over time.
