More magnification for focusing?

Post by Diane Miller »

I love being able to focus hands-off through your software, and have been using it for astrophotography, where good focus on stars is very important.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a higher zoom level -- 10x or 15x -- to really see focus critically?

The live view zoom levels are defined by the camera itself, and the highest zoom available in Remote is the highest available in the camera. Zooming a low resolution LV image further would be counter-productive. What you should do is take a fast preview image and zoom it in. That way you'll be looking at the actual hi-res photo. Speaking of which, you should probably go to settings -> Shooting and set the Preview quality to high, else the preview will be M or S JPEG instead of L.

Thanks -- guess it is what it is, in that case. I'll check that preview setting.
