Re: Canon 70D
Plug the camera into USB port, make sure the operating system detects it, close other camera-related programs (if you have any) and run Helicon Remote.

Re: Canon 70D
Stas,
those instructions only seem to work if I connect to a tablet which is connected to my home wifi, is it possible to connect direct to my tablet using a wifi connection so I can use Helicon Remote in the field?

Re: Canon 70D
It is possible - Android can host a wi-fi network, too: http://www.gizmag.com/how-to-turn-your- ... pot/32544/
Re: Canon 70D
Hi,
Instead of using the 70D's Wi-Fi function 'Remote control (EOS Utility)' to connect, can we use the ''Connect to Smartphone' mode, then select 'Camera access point mode'?
This would be helpful because
1. It's easier to fire this mode up in the field (rather than create a network on my tablet) and then just connect my tablet to the Canon network.
2. Most new users will probably have installed the EOS Remote app using this setting already so they will struggle to figure out why your app doesn't just connect straight away.
It may be that canon doesn't allow other apps to connect this way or, I've missed something obvious!.

Re: Canon 70D
You can use that mode with the latest versions of Helicon Remote, but not with the older ones.
Re: Canon 70D
Hi Stas,
I'll gladly buy the licensed version if I can get it to work. Thanks!

Could you please give the steps to connect an android phone this way? I need to be able to control my 70D in the field where there is no wifi network other than the one created by the camera. I downloaded the trial version of Helicon Remote version 3.6.2 from the Google Play store for my Galaxy Note 4, but I can't get it to connect. All it says in the app is "No camera found".Stas Yatsenko wrote:You can use that mode with the latest versions of Helicon Remote, but not with the older ones.

Re: Canon 70D
The connection procedure is the same: first setup the camera (make sure to reset Wi-Fi settings first, sometimes it solves the problem!), connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network hosted by the camera. Then run Helicon Remote, go to Tools -> Network cameras -> Add and create an entry for your camera. Select Canon WFT for type, enter any name, and make sure to specify the correct IP address. Usually it's 192.168.1.1, but you can look it up in the camera body. Once the entry had been added, the camera will appear under the "Select a camera" button on the main tab - press the button and tap the camera to connect.

Re: Canon 70D
Is it possible to just connect via USB to a Mac computer? I'm having major difficulties in trying to connect via wi-fi and since it's on a tripod, the camera isn't going anywhere.

Re: Canon 70D
That's great, but for some reason, it's not doing it. I plug in the USB, turn the camera on and Helicon Remote does not "see" the camera. I do give it a few minutes just to make sure. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to turn the Wi-fi off???

Re: Canon 70D
You probably do need to turn it off. Make sure OS X itself detects the camera.
