Trinamic 1043 kit

Post by keithcooper »

I was recently given a Trinamic 1043 development kit with a motor, 3x control boards and a USB/serial adapter

see:
www <dot> trinamic <dot> com/products/modules/driver-step/tmcm-1043

(url broken by board restrictions)

for info

Is there any way it can be used with Helicon Remote?

If not, it would be nice to use the motor - Can anyone suggest a specific compatible board that drives such motors? (a much cheaper option than buying a motor with a board, since the kit has a motor in it).

Can't say. The new Trinamics that have USB interface out of the box most likely won't work. But you're saying this one uses a USB / serial converter, same as those we support, so maybe it'll work. Have you already tried it?

The 1043 motor board is not USB, so maybe some chance.

The USB unit has a stm32f103 processor in it, so looks specifically for programming the 1043 boards - I have a FTDI based usb-serial unit that seems to be seen from Remote, so I'll see if there's a way of getting it to talk to the motor board - that or watch things go pop... ;-)

Seems the 1043 controller board only has a step/direction interface (no serial) so out of luck there...
