Confused about MLU

Post by hjk »

When shooting a stack with HR using Canon 5D Mark II the mirror stays up all the time and it makes no difference whether I choose MLU on or off from the camera. HR informs me that MLU is on/off but the mirror stays up anyway when shooting stack using live view?

Similarly setting delay for MLU mode is not necessary as the mirror stays up all the way through shooting the stack?

Please correct me if I have some basic misunderstanding here as I feel a bit confused about the MLU on/off option in HR.

That's right. You're shooting with live view, which means the mirror is up at all times. You can notice the effect of MLU if you disable live view (Prefernces -> Shooting -> set Activate live view when taking a shot to No). But usually it's best to leave the default settings to reduce the number of mirror flips.
