Nikon 18-140 focus bracketing

Post by dinofelis »

Hello,

I have a nikon d7100 with a 18-140mm lens and 40mm lens and cannot get focus bracketing to work with the 18-140 lens. Helicon remote appears to be incapable of controlling the focus of the lens. Does this apply to all non-prime lenses or am I doing something wrong?

There is no problem with zoom lenses in general. Is it AF lens? Is it set to AF? What lens is it?

Its the Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX NIKKOR Zoom Lens

I cannot get the program to change the focus on this lens but it works fine with the macro. This was the case for a d7000 and d7100. I tried setting the lens to auto and manual and neither works

It should work. Start Remote, connect the camera, press the focus movement button several time and send us a bug report (menu -> Help -> Report a bug).
Does Autofocus function work in Helicon Remote with this lens?

Autofocus works and I can set the farthest point (B), but the focus will not go in the (A) direction. Is this a limitation of the lens?

Do you mean that you can't move focus with the <<< / >>> buttons, or that you can move it manually but it doesn't move during focus stacking?

That's weird. Try resetting camera body settings.

It has happened with a d7000 and d7100. The macro lens works perfectly with both.

Then I'd say it is caused by the lens itself, but still it's weird. This is the first time we hear of AF lens that doesn't fully work with Remote.

I had the same problem with the nikon 18-105mm lens that came with the d7000. I am just going to try another prime lens.

We have a couple Nikon zoom lenses (14-24, 75-200, kit 18-105), they all work.
