Helicon Remote settings

Post by Hondoguy2 »

1. What does "distance between shots" refer to? Is it a constant unit of measurement? Is that something I should set manually? How are results different if it is set at "2" rather than "1".

2. If I change the f/stop from f/4 to f/8 after I've determined the number of shots in a focus sequence, shouldn't it require fewer shots to achieve the same depth of field? Does the program determine the number of shots required based on the f/stop you have entered?

1. Distance between shots is measured in focusing steps made by camera lens. These steps are equivalent of rotating the focusing right by some angle. If the distance between shots is too big, you will see unfocused area between shots after stacking them with Helicon Focus.

2. Yes, if you open DOF calculator (icon near Distance between shots) the program will show you updated information. We can update number of shot after changes in aperture but I am afraid that would not be evident for most users.
