Helicon focus with S9+ and D810

Post by Onkas81 »

Hello,
I'm trying for a while to use Helicon focus with Nikon D810 and my samsung galaxy S9+ but I can't make it work...
I tried different types of cables :
- this one :
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01GGKYJG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- those two combines :
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00NH13G5A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01COOQIKU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- and also this one :
https://www.amazon.fr/AmazonBasics-C%C3%A2ble-USB-C-vers-Micro/dp/B01GGKYAIU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1539251072&sr=8-4&keywords=usb+c+micro+usb

But none of them seems to work... The Helicon Focus app on my Samsung galaxy S9+ seems not to detect my Nikon D810.

Did anybody manage to make it work ?

It should work if you combine cables #2 and #3 (from the top). The OTG adapter is mandatory, you cannot omit it by using the cable #1, that won't work.
Also, please see https://www.heliconsoft.com/faq-helicon-remote/#camera_not_detected

Ok, thank you very much, it's working now !

I used those two combines :
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00NH13G5A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01COOQIKU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When you plug it into your smartphone just need to tap usb properties then choose "file transfer" and finally "open with Helicon Remote".

Thanks for the info. Interesting, that prompt (USB transfer mode selection) shouldn't even be displayed when a camera or other USB device is connected, it's only for connecting to a computer. But it's good to know what to do if the prompt does show up.
