Helicon Webgate History in Photo Safe

Unread postby scribbly » 14.04.2012 03:15

I'm enjoying Photo Safe.

Just tried WebGate from PhotoSafe to my Flickr account: Fantastic!! :: Not that I didn't think there'd be an issue :)

What I'd love to see in PhotoSafe is the uploading history and maybe a link to the online version.

For example, I may pop the same photo to different online albums (Flickr, FaceBook or Picasa), and it would be nice to:
  1. See in PhotoSafe that a particular photo has been uploaded to an online album
  2. See which online albums it has been uploaded to
  3. Have a link to the online version

We plan similar feature: a history for each file which will record all actions to this file - import, upload, print, edit, etc.

Sounds great.

The upload history is helpful if you have numerous sites that you upload photos to ;)

I wonder if it'd be possible to have a passive tracking feature (if the API's allow it)? Thought it would be interesting to have something like:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Photo XYZ uploaded to:
  • Picasa [Views: 10 :: Likes: 1] open
  • FaceBook [Views: 200 :: Likes: 10 :: Shares: 30] open
  • Flickr [Views: 200 :: Likes: 10 :: Shares: 30] open
[Refresh]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are other sites an option?

While we're in ideas mode, do you think it would be possible to implement the WebGate accounts as a Plugin?

I was wondering of an easy way to add other accounts?

An extra one I'd be interested in is a simple FTP, where I could upload to my own webspace.

FTP is a good idea. As to plugin, I am not so sure. This is possible only if we internally already use such a modular architecture.

Yes, it would (sorry). Does give the ability to extend the application though ;)

Also, at a simpler level, maybe being able to define settings (like in FTP) in other services would work? For example, on Posterous you post via email, so a modification of the email function could work there. You can also post to blogging software via email.

Good idea, this should be quite easy to implement.

Any development on this?

As I also had another idea: Send by Email (very similar to Upload, eh?)

It would be great to have other services too... is there a way that these can be user defined??

We already implemented Event log. You can go to this mode from the mane panel (where Files, Categories, Ratings, Search are located)

We will probably not open our internal interfaces for external modules. This makes program less stable and makes us stick with the existing interfaces. And I doubt that many people are waiting to write a plugin to our program :)
