image appears to be damaged

Unread postby jasonfdarr » 16.02.2017 08:52

Hi, I am having some issues with the software. I am using an iMac 27in (OS 10.12.3)
Photoshop/lightroom CC 2017

When I am exporting from helicon focus back to lightroom (DNG file) the files are visible in lightroom, and look ok, but lightroom says "image appears to be damaged".

I was wondering what this is and how to fix it.

Thanks
Jason

That was reported once before by another user, but so far we don't understand why this problem occurs and how to fix it.

I'm getting that error message as well. It occurs when opening a DNG in Adobe Camera Raw, but only on images that have had some retouching. Unretouched image stacks do not generate that message. The 'damaged' images seem to open correctly and can be adjusted, then sent to Photoshop as a Smart Object. So no obvious corruption in the pixels. But I notice when the DNG is opening in ACR, the unretouched image appears momentarily, and is then replaced by the retouched image ... somewhat unexpected.

WIN 10, ACR 9.12.1.790, DNG Converter 9.12.0.784

I suspect your edits are saved in an XMP files rather than being embedded into the image data itself.
