Focus Stack With Exposure Bracketing

Post by EricM »

I am taking photos of jewelry and wanted to try exposure bracketing to compensate for detail loss in highly reflective highlights. Is there a tutorial or instructions for doing this that I am missing?

No matter what method or setting I try, my focus stack with 3 exposure brackets per step (shot with Helicon Remote) looks like a bad acid trip:

It doesn't work exactly the way you expect. You can render HDR stacks with Helicon Focus, but you still need a proper HDR tool to merge the resulting images into a single final HDR image. Helicon Focus can sort the images for you and produce N focus stacking results automatically, where N is the number of HDR steps.

Now, to do this properly, you need to open your source images via File -> Batch Process and split stacks by exposure. Please refer to the manual for details (and don't worry, it's simpler than it sounds): http://www.heliconsoft.com/focus/help/e ... CH_PROCESS
