DNG file data loss

When using raw files converted to dng by LR the HF individual image frame notes 24b/pixel, 8b/channel. Both tif and nef files are shown as 48b/pixel, 16bit/channel. All output tiffs are shown as 48b/pixel, 16b/channel. Is data actually lost when HF converts dng files for processing?

Helicon Focus preserves bit depth of source images. So if output is 48 bit then input should be also 48 bit. Most probably the program does not show correct bit depth for your DNG files. Please send us one of your files for tests.

I sent a folder, johncw DNG, containing a DNG out of LR and a HF screenshot showing the pixel and channel data for the DNG. I found converting NEF's to TIFF's in Capture NX-D for processing in HF faster than converting NEF's to DNG in LR and processing in HF.

The 24b/pixel, 8b/channel notation is a bit spooky so I think I'll stick with TIFF's.
