HDR With HFilter 4.93.2 Not Working

I've searched the Help Files and Forums but no answer was found for this problem. When I merge two JPEG images (one overexposed and one underexposed by 1 2/3 stops) with Ctrl-D to increase dynamic range (HDR) the result looks like the image below. No amount of processing affects the result. What am I doing wrong?

I did find a work around for creating and HDR image with HFilter. Using the Replace Sky/Background tool in the Retouching mode, it's quite easy to select the sky from the image that was underexposed to retain the highlights and paint that onto the blown out sky.

Sorry, we do not support 4.x version of Helicon Filter and have not yet added this functionality to version 5.x

It is important that dark image was added first, and the bright was added later.

similar question... i have had version 4.93 which i bought mainly for stacking for extended dynamic range. although i never quite got the 'classic' hdr results, there are plenty other features i have come to use. i will remember to add the darker one first in the future.
i have a new computer and see that the newer version that i put on it does not have that stacking feature. do you plan to add it sometime soon?
