Ghosting

Unread postby sellis51 » 14.04.2010 20:49

Can you give me your opinion as to why this photo from Helicon Focus turned out like this? Thanks. Shot with D700, Nikkor 105mm macro. 13 images. The last image, with the far edge of the flower, appears properly exposed and in focus on that part of the flower.

The program thinks that blurred white edge is more contrasty that smooth black background. There are two ways to solve this problem. I would prefer to use retouching brush in Helicon Focus. Only a couple of strokes and it is completely fixed. Another way is to increase Radius in the parameters of Helicon Focus.

Thanks. I have never used the retouching brush. How do you fix the areas in between and around the stalks?

You choose the source file where this part of image is focused. This file appears on the left panel. Then you clone from the left (source) to the right (result) panel. If you upload the source images (as described at http://www.heliconsoft.com/ftp.html) I can show you the result of retouching.
