I purchased Helicon Focus 5 Pro bundled with Helicon Filter 4.93 Pro and Photosafe on the 26th Dec 2009
I now find Helicon Filter v.4.93 has been updated to v.5 and v.4.93 is now being offered FREE !
I have downloaded v.5 thinking it would overwrite v.4.93 as an update but v.5 has downloaded seperately and is telling me it is a 30 day free trial.
Am I expected to pay for updates?

No, just use your activation code to register new Helicon Filter online.

I would not delete version 4.93, yet. Version 5 is a beta and it crashed on me several times, as can be expected. But it looks nice !!!

I shall gladly try and likely register version 5 when or if it comes out of beta but I am too cautious to try a beta program. Does the latest version of Helicon Filter 4 run under Windows 7?

Yes, version 4 works for me on Windows 7 (64-bit OS). The latest beta of Helicon Filter is worth a try too; indeed a lot faster than previous versions. You can use HF 4 and 5 on the same PC.

Color Management in Helicon Filter Pro 4.93.2

Unread postby aquinas50 » 29.06.2010 17:14

Thank you. I have installed it and it seems to work fine (32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium) but I have a question I cannot find answered in the Help or in the menus.

I have a color-calibrated screen (calibrated by Spyder 2 Pro screen calibrator and appropriate software). In most other photo editors I can tell the software to use the custom screen profile that the Spyder 2 Pro calibrator produced as the custom monitor/screen color profile. I cannot find anywhere in Helicon Pro 4.93.2 how to tell the program to use the custom screen/monitor profile. Is Helicon Filter Pro 4.93.2 color-profile aware? Can I tell it to use the custom screen profile? If I can, how do I tell the program to use the custom screen profile?

Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK, Helicon Filter 4 is half-color profile aware and uses the system default - but the Helicon experts will surely know better.
In Helicon Filter 5 you can set your profile preferences precisely in the "settings" menu.

Yes, version 4 uses color profile which is marked as default in Windows color management settings.
