Re: Is is possible to use helicon focus to stack sky/star pictures ?
Surely all of these would be shot with focus at infinity, meaning no there would be no benefit from stacking?

Re: Stackshot 3X
A lot better than option four.
One feature I would really like is that as each stack is completed it is stored in a separate folder (as you do with the current setup) Right now Stackshot 3X places everything in a single folder which can complicate the focusing process.

Stackshot 3X
Stas
I know you have mentioned this, but do you have any thoughts about Remote becoming compatible with Stackshot3X?
It will be out next week!
We are working on it, not sure about the release date.
It is on our to-do list.
There are just not enough users to make it worthwhile.
Thanks

Re: Focus shift
I have had a similar problem. One workaround is to deliberately set the initial end points well beyond what is needed. While it means the stacking program deals with unneeded shots, it avoids losing some in-focus shots over time.

Re: Stackshot 3X and Remote
It's odd that shots are skipped. You should send a bug report from Helicon Remote when that happens. Or do you mean that the shot is not performed by the Stackshot at all, and not that Helicon Remote fails to download the image? I am transferring directly from the camera to an external hard drive, ...

Stackshot 3X and Remote
Using Helicon Remote with Stackshot 3X Because Remote can only control one motor on Stackshot, I have developed this workaround to combine both Remote and Stackshot 3X. Disclaimer: I have only worked with Nikon cameras, but I assume Canon should work in a similar fashion. Camera : Either fresh batt...

Re: Using Stackshot
Since you can control everything using Remote, there is no need for calculations. Remote will read all your camera settings, lens, speed, f stop and ISO. Once you set the start and end points on screen the program determines how many shots are needed (you can override this if you wish). Press the St...

Are you working on a copy stand? I had a similar problem because, when it is pointing straight down, the camera cannot decide if it is in portrait or landscape mode. I solved it by tilting the entire stand a few degrees.

The latest download recognizes it, and seems to work so far.

When do you expect to have support for the Nikon D500?

Posted. The map is stored as Dustmap, the stack is 76 images. Everything is in jpeg format

Re: Dust map files
I am still not sure what I am doing wrong. Stacks created with and without a Dust Map look identical. The Dust map is shot under the same conditions as the stack.

Re: Question for Mac users
No real change, maybe 10% faster. Is this problem unique to me, or is it a more general Mac problem?
