Re: Workflow questions

What is the best way to deal with movement? It seems to work very well if there is no wind but if there is some wind the subject might move directly, how much of this is handled when stacking? How does this apply to landscapes? My main interest is with landscapes so I know bush movement can be an is...

Re: Aphid

Thanks Stas, I changed the focus position manually. Stackshot looks very appealing. Bounce flash was used with a 10 sec delay for reliable flash recharge. Speaking of flash, I'm using the Canon 7D and the flash compensation options seem to be grayed out in Remote. Also even though I have set the cam...

Grass Seed Head

Here is a grass seed head. Initially shot at f/11 and had many aberrations. This was shot as a stack of 61 focus planes at f/13 and the aberrations were much reduced. Still getting the hang of the retouching tool, but its ability to identify the proper stack element in the context of the composite i...

Does Helicon Focus really use 16-bit depth files?

My workflow for Helicon Focus has been to: 1. Shoot the stack in Canon raw. 2. Load the raw files onto my computer. 3. Convert the raw files to 16 bit tiffs with DXO Optics Pro. 4. Process the converted 16 bit tiffs in Helicon Focus The Parameters tab displays some info about each image in the stack...

Removing an item in queue

If I remove an item from queue the button to run the queue is grayed out. I have to close and reopen the queue interface box to have an active run button again.

Re: How to increase time between shots on Canon?

Thanks Stas,
Always went straight to the Canon selection under Shooting. Didn't see the options just under shooting itself. This should work much better.

How to increase time between shots on Canon?

I am shooting with a Canon 7D using an external 580EX II flash mounted on the hotshoe. Is there a way to increase the time duration between shots to allow the flash to recharge. Every other shot has a dark frame as the flash is only firing every other time.

Re: slow performance of HF 64-bit Pro

Stas, Thank you for your interest in this issue. Adding a folder of images to create a stack took 172 seconds to create a queue task consisting of 155 images. Changing parameters for the same group of images took an additional 172 seconds. There did not seem to be an efficiency gain to simply change...
