Re: Canon: Big and Small steps?

Hi Stas, Thanks for the information. I made a .jpeg of a full view and two cropped .jpegs showing the details to provide an opportunity for comparison between a stack made with 10 big steps and 100 small steps. Both examples were shot with the very same ISO, shutter speed, and aperture settings. The...

Re: Where do I get a cable?

The Samsung uses a "micro USB 3.0" connector. It seems like the Nikon uses a "mini USB 2.0" connector. It's easy to find cables with a micro USB 3.0 connector, but I couldn't find the exact cable you need for your Camera and phone combo. You may need to use some sort of adapter to go from a common m...

Re: Canon: Big and Small steps?

I made some comparisons today between the use of Big Steps and Small Steps while using a Canon 5dmkII and Canon 180mm Macro lens and it seems as if the difference between the two is approximately a factor of "10". In other words 1 Focus Bracket "Increment" of a big step seems to equal 10 Focus Brack...

Re: Getting the Correction Factor right...

Thank you for posting this. I just started using Remote with my Canon 5dmkII and Canon 180mm Macro lens. I've been searching the forum and re-reading the Remote help files and I appreciate the attempt to illicit more info or discussion about these features. I am using the Canon preferences "Big Step...

Re: Canon: Big and Small steps?

Thanks Stas. I am primarily interested in using remote for photographing flowers so I'll give small a try.

I was already shooting in increments of "1" in the focus bracket panel. Is the Big and Small factor a multiplier of the increments displayed in the focus bracket panel?

Hi Stas,
I'm glad to know that you have identified the trouble and have a road map for a fix.

That's good news. Thank You!

DOF calculator and Canon 180mm Macro lens?

I am wondering if anyone has worked through the process of determining ideal correction factor settings for the Canon 180mm Macro lens on a full frame DSLR? I have left the correction factor at 1 and results seem ok but I am wondering if anyone has taken the time to test for a ideal correction facto...

Canon: Big and Small steps?

I've read the entire manual but am hoping for some clarification regarding the Canon Big and Small steps options in the Helicon Remote>Preferences>Canon dialog. How does this relate to the step size in the focus bracketing panel? If the interval is one step in the focus bracket panel how does the ch...

Batch process Auto Save .dng crashes Helicon Focus

Hello, I've been looking forward to using batch processing the Canon camera RAW .cr2 files I am working with so today I finally tried it. If I use Auto Save with the .dng option Helicon Focus crashes every time it gets close to finishing the first stack in the cue. If I use Auto Save with the .jpeg ...

Re: Best way to prepare a Dust Map?

Hi Stas, If I get some free time I'll try to gather what I was using and send it over. I am getting a bit over whelmed with the vast amount of data that accumulates with focus stacking, and when I was doing the dust map tests I wasn't spending a lot of effort to archive and collate data that I didn'...

Re: Help! watermark is added to saves after I purchased lice

Hi Stas, Thank you for corresponding with me via the support email. I wanted to post the solution I discovered for the problem I was having. After trying various attempts to process the stacks and save them etc. and after uninstalling and installing and even trying a beta version of Helicon I stumbl...

Help! watermark is added to saves after I purchased license

Hi, I ran the Helicon Focus demo for a while and purchased a premium license this morning. I activated the license and Helicon Focus displays the fact that I am licensed. Last night I knew I had gone beyond my free trial period but I made a few stacks with some photos I took yesterday. The saves I m...

Re: Best way to prepare a Dust Map?

Hi Stas, Thanks for the offer to look at the dust maps. I made sure that I used a smooth white card that was out of focus and my initial tests used a properly matched aperture. I gave up on the idea of using an automated process after trying your built in options as well as the process offered in th...

Best way to prepare a Dust Map?

Hi, I am learning to use Helicon Focus. I have been working with stacks shot with a f4 aperture, but yesterday tried a large stack shot at f16. I tried all three methods but I prefered the results of Method="C". I found that the dust on the sensor caused dark streaking on the Helicon Render Output, ...
