questions about RAW in DNG?
Hi, I have several questions about the "RAW in DNG out" processing. It seems as if there are new choices and preferences that have been added while I was using an older version of Helicon. 1) RAW development settings>Color Space: Does this apply to previews or output? Does it apply to DNG ...

Re: followup to "updates available killing current working install is a pain"
Hi Stas, Thank you for your interest. Yes, I think you have understood what I was trying to say. It is the same symptom I saw in April 2015, when I first transitioned from demo mode to being a licensed user. For example; Windows 7 Pro fully updated running on a i7 CPU with 16GB RAM etc. Open images ...

Re: followup to "updates available killing current working install is a pain"
A follow up to the follow up of the follow up: I uninstalled Helicon 6.3.8 and installed the latest version 6.7.1. It says it is "Registered Pro unlimited". I ran the render on the same stack of files. I am not using a "project file", I am selecting the files and starting fresh e...

Re: followup to "updates available killing current working install is a pain"
Hello, A follow up to my follow up: The work around solution using Adobe Camera RAW's "update jpeg preview" which I posted no longer seems to work. Perhaps something happened as Adobe Camera RAW was updated to it's final version last summer. So, I am back to the original problem. For some ...

followup to "updates available killing current working install is a pain"
Hello, Thank you for the suggestion that I can simply re-register my existing install. Unfortunately, I have now run in to the bug which I commented on last year in the following forum post: http://www.heliconsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8577&p=17741#p17741 My properly registered Heli...

Re: updates available killing current working install is a pain
Thanks Stas,
That was easy.
I should have thought of that myself. I was distressed by the warning and then distracted by the "download the update" dialog window that popped open.
I look forward to trying the update soon.
Thank you.

updates available killing current working install is a pain
I was satisfied using my current install of Helicon Focus. Tonight I went to use Helicon Focus for a quick job after not using it for a while and I find that my install has become unregistered seemingly because an update is available. I don't want to have to wait to go through an update install but ...

Save the stack source files?
Hi, It is time for me to to do a regular photo file backup and I have to decide if I want to save the stack photos I used in Helicon or if I should just save the Helicon Focus output .dng. I know that the choice will largely reflect a personal opinion but I thought I'd ask if there are any remarkabl...

shopping for a Windows tablet to run Remote with USB cable?
Hi, I have been enjoying using Remote with my laptop but now I want to try using Remote while hiking. I am wondering if it is possible to use Remote with a windows tablet but I do not have a wi-fi equipped camera so I will need to have the capability to use a USB cable. I am hoping someone has tried...

Re: brand new Canon 5DS R; Focus says it can't open my .CR2
Hi Stas, Thank you for the suggestion. I have been using Helicon Focus with the .CR2 files from my Canon 5DmkII successfully for several months. I checked and I have been using Adobe DNG Converter v8.7.1 so I just updated to the latest v9.1.1 and now everything seems to work with the new Canon 5DS R...

brand new Canon 5DS R; Focus says it can't open my .CR2 file
Hi, I'm testing out my new Canon 5DS R and I have run in to an issue where Helicon Focus will not open the .CR2 files from that camera. I checked and it still functions perfectly with my Canon 5DmkII files. I have been using Adobe Bridge CS6, Photoshop CS6, and Adobe Camera RAW 9.1.1 as well as Cano...

Re: Confused about the data on the Focus screen
The stack, as you have set it, will cover 25 steps 8 of the ten shots are obvious; 3 steps x 8 shots = 24 steps. Consider that the first shot is at step "0" not "1", and that the last shot is at step 25, so the app adds a shot at each end for a total of 1+8+1=10 shots. edited gra...

Re: Canon: Big and Small steps?
An easy way to inspect the difference between the two examples is to open each in a new tab of your web browser and then switch from one tab to another. This works as well as if the two examples are stacked as layers of a Photoshop file so that you may quickly swap between layers. This sort of direc...
