Re: Helicon Remote with Samsung s8

Thank you Stas, Re 1) Thanks for teaching my how to use the new Android device ;-) Yes, I see now that it's a "Recent apps" button and only *some* apps might be running in the background - thus the "Close all" button that's displayed on that screen. Re 2) Since I'm already setting up the camera (pro...

Helicon Remote with Samsung s8

Works great and I bought it. There seems to be a few hiccups when connected to a D800E but I'm learning how to avoid them. Stuff like turning off Live View while changing certain settings. No big deal - the app works fine. Note that this S8 is new and coming from a Blackberry Q10 there's a lot to le...

Re: Locked Image when Transferring over Network

has to be set manually (folders don't receive it by default): open the folder's properties -> Security tab -> Advanced -> press Enable inheritance. You should probably set the "Replace child object permissions..." option, too, for good measure. All the users with access to the Shared 'My Pictures' ...

Re: Locked Image when Transferring over Network

I was not able to ever get Everyone included in the permissions, which I think is the correct behavior. That would be default behaviour if the folder is not configured to include access for Everyone to that Shared folder. To allow easy access to the folder from other computers in the studio Everyon...

Re: Locked Image when Transferring over Network

Here are two screen grabs of the permissions compared between the image file that Helicon Remote saves to disk and what Helicon Remote saves. PermissionsExample1.jpg shows that the "Everyone" has been omitted when saving to a Users folder while it's properly included in PermissionsExample2.jpg where...

Re: Locked Image when Transferring over Network

I too have been unable to reproduce the part of the problem where Heliconfocus.exe remains running in the background after closing the app. That part of this issue should be ignored and I've deleted that issue that I previously posted. What DOES occur is that Helicon Focus is not assigning appropria...

Re: Locked output files in wondows

I resolved this by creating a folder on the hard disk outside my User folders (ie: not in My Pictures) and set that as the target folder to save the HF files to. I then Shared that folder over the Network and the problem disappeared.

I hope this is of use to someone else.

Locked Image when Transferring over Network

I'm using Windows 7-64bit I am not able to transfer the processed images over our studio network and am blocked with a message that I do not have permission to transfer it. The original camera images created by Helicon Remote transfer without any problem. At first I was suspicious about HeliconFocus...

Re: HeliconFocus.exe - Application Error

Well golly gee whiz --- it worked !!! :-) I reinstalled v 6.2.2 and the same error occurred again when trying to launch it. When I checked its install folder I saw that msvcr100.dll and msvcr80.dll did not exist. Not expecting it to work, I copied the msvcr100.dll and msvcr80.dll versions downloaded...

Re: HeliconFocus.exe - Application Error

Seems something very similar affected Adobe Lightroom:

http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/err ... 0007b.html

Might the same fix work with HF v6?

ie: copy the appropriate msvcr100.dll and msvcr80.dll files to the Helicon Focus install folder?

Re: Save and reuse rendering?

Hi Stas, Thanks for responding. It's too bad there are not more folks in here to offer help. I'll try your suggestions to see how well they work. Something else I just tried with the sample images looks promising : if I use 'File -> Export layers' I can use these to create layer masks in Photoshop t...

HeliconFocus.exe - Application Error

I accepted to run the update from v. 5.3.7 X64 to v 6. The update downloaded and installed, but when I attempted to run it I am met with the error: ******************************* HeliconFocus.exe - Application Error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc00000tb). Click OK to close the a...

Re: Save and reuse rendering?

Hi Stas. Thank you of your help :-) I think you've misunderstood what I'm doing. I AM using Helicon Remote to shoot with, and am not doing HDR. I'm simply moving my main light position and perhaps changing its intensity so that I have 2 stacks of images of the same subject : one (for example) lit fr...

Save and reuse rendering?

I'm relatively new to using Helicon Focus. So far I am VERY impressed by its results using a Nikon D800e with a 105mm f/2.8 G macro lens. Can I save and reuse the rendering of a stack of images? I ask as I'll shoot a set of images ((automated using Helicon Remote / usually 6-8 images) and then repea...
