Third try-Caterpillar
This is a Tomato Hornworm larva at about 3x and 11 images. This has been the most problematic subject. You can see some softness and halos all around the caterpillar. I tried many different combinations of radius and smoothing. This was about the best with radius 15 and smoothing 6. Do I need more i...

Second try-Water Boatman
Here is my second try, this time a 4x close-up of a water boatman. The problems I had here were first, some softness along the bottom where there should have been more hair detail, and second some softness in the lower third of the face. There was one image where this was very sharp, so I tried to u...

Thanks Dan and Inge. I've tried a couple more since, and so far this is the best. I think maybe I'm using too many images and not enough control over stability of my setup. I've run through trying radius from 2 to 8 and smoothing 2 o 6. Best results seem to be something like 4 to 6 radius with 4 smo...

Water Strider-First try, need help
This is my first serious attempt with Helicon Focus. I used a Canon 20D with MP-65 and MT-24EX flash mounted on a Manfrotto focus rail. There were about 25 exposures. I didn't do any cleaning up of artifact and such in Photoshop; this is the image just as Helicon Focus rendered it. The problem: it i...

Really? I am using pretty much the same equipment and so far I am getting too much flash refelection in the eyes. Your crane fly has such a 3-D look like it was illuminated from all around. I am going to try to post an image for critique. Perhaps you would take a look at it and comment. Thanks very ...

I can't get Helicon Focus to start
I downloaded the Mac version of Helicon Focus to try it out. I'm running Mac OS 10.4.9 on a Powermac G5 dual. Each time that I try to run the program, it fails to start with the message "The application Helicon Focus quit unexpectedly.". Any hints as to what my proble is?
