Re: Did i ask too much?

OK I will have a look when I get some more time, in the mean while I ran the stack with a lot more depth last night (26mm in total giving 336 shots), still at F3.5. It does seem better this time around. even though the subject was lit using a ring light mounted to the lens I still got variation in b...

Re: Remote focusing, mirror lockup

this is an interesting subject, using my macro rail which controls the camera shutter (through a hacked cheapo wired remote) instead of calling commands on the camera I am able to use pretty much what ever setting a care to use, mirror up, live view, normal single shot, with settable settle time to ...

Re: Did i ask too much?

I did have a closer look at the images myself and found that the images of the front where not very sharp for some reason. I re-ran the stack for a better result but still not perfect (270 over 18mm this time), I may have need to add an extra 1mm of depth to the shot I will upload the images for thi...

Did i ask too much?

I think I have asked a little too much this time but would like some thoughts on the situation I was out for a walk the other day when I came across this skeletonised seed pod blew into my path, so I picked it up wondered home. 232 shots, nikkor AF-S 40 2.8G @ f3.5, 1/320s ISO 100, Nikon D7100. over...

Re: Mirros and reflections

didn't think of that, I only have the lite version as I cant justify spending on the full version at this point in time, the lite version which as far as I understand does not include a retouch without adding a water mark. this image was processed with method C, most of my stack are due to normally ...

Re: Focussing stack using Microscope ?

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if the system you posted can deal with backlash with in the drive system, or does helicon deal with that? Also, stepper motors do miss steps, specially under micro stepped conditions. The step accuracies are equal to the quality of the driver and mot...

Re: Still Hanging

I sometimes get helicon focus has crashed thing every so often, its a pain when you are half way through a 200 image stack that takes over an hour to process.

is you machine over clocked?

Mirros and reflections

I was thinking about reflections the day, while we all understand that a camera can capture a reflection from a mirror, I also found that mirror seem to maintain DoF too. This shot I struggled with dust on the mirror (did some cleaning in PSE after) and there seem to be some and some soft focus in a...

Re: Brigthness changes

I have downloaded and installed the Nikon codec which seem to work lovely. Is there a way to set it as default, I can't see anything along those lines but I am most likely missing it.

Re: Brigthness changes

Sorry for the delay, I had a hectic work schedule and needed to install new drives and a clean install of W7 before I could have a look.

I don't seem to have the button in question. I don't know if it make any difference but I have only purchased the basic option due to funds and the current time

Re: Brigthness changes

The raw files are nearly 1GB in size and would take a small eternity to upload from my rural connectiong that normally does not exceed 4mb/s. Converting to tiff, or jpeg seem to stop the exposure alterations so will either just shoot jpeg or convert. until next week whem i can leave my system runnin...
