Re: Artifacts on "spikes" projecting from diatom

Ok. I am using a Canon T3i. I will look into whether it is using any sharpening.

I see the rings in the source image. They may be caused by reflection of light on the surface of the diatom at certain curvatures.

What do you mean by "bokeh" in your port?

Thanks,
Bryan

Re: Artifacts on "spikes" projecting from diatom

I've tried disabling the autoadjustments for magnification, rotation, and shifts. The output image looks the same. Anything else I should try?

Is there any benefit to working from a stack of RAW images versus JPEGs from the camera? Could that contribute to an alignment error?

Thanks,
Bryan

Here is a link to a higher resolution version of the image. It is easier to see the waves in the spikes.

Artifacts on "spikes" projecting from diatom

Hello, I have been experimenting with stacking images of diatoms. I recently acquired a stepper motor so I could try out deeper stacks and see if I could produce good visualizations of "thicker" specimens. I chose the attached specimen because it has a lot of "depth" to it. The m...
