Helicon Focus 6.2 Retouch stopped working
it just simply quit. after fooling with it for a while, i uninstalled HF6.2 and shut the machine down. restarted and reloaded HF6.2. same problem. so i ran the demo stack. same problem there. the application renders as always. but i can't do a retouch. since all of my work is based on HF and since i...

Re: Intermittent problem saving output
i have the same problem. in my case, the file was in fact saved, but with an incorrect file extension. for example, instead of just "tif," it would be "tif1634," or some other 4 digit number. i went into the file and removed the digits and it was fine. even had the exif data inta...

Re: New Olympus TG-3 Does Stacking In Camera
as far as i am concerned, this is a toy feature. i have never run a stack as small as 8, and normally run in the 100-200 range. plus, it is rare that i don't have to do some retouching. this may help sell their camera and turn some people on to focus stacking, but if that's all they got ....

Re: Brigthness changes
i have had similar problems in the past. if you have lightroom, you can open the raw files, make adjustments, and export them to HF as tif or jpg files. if you do not have LR, you can use photoshop but with some extra steps. put your raws in a separate folder, and create another separate folder that...

Re: How do I determine which method to use
you have to experiment. i almost always get best results with B, give C a try, and don't waste my time with A. but that is me.

LR and HF6
thank you! is just downloaded HF6.2. the lightroom export works. there are no memory gobbling "lre" files on my C drive. the only issue, and it is a minor one, is that LR does not realize that its task is done after an export. i have to manually kill the LR task. no biggie.

2 weird bugs in HF6
#1) i get failed to save messages about half the time after rendering a stack into a tif. actually, the file *is* saved, but there is a four digit number attached to the file extension. for example, instead of "xxxxxx.tif," i get "xxxxxx.tif5265." removing the four digits makes e...

Re: First Impressions and questions
i do a lot of flowers with fine detail, and i use method B most of the time. that's because i find retouching C-rendered images to be virtually impossible. when C does work it is wonderful.

Re: raw file burnout
i uploaded one file to your server: Jim_Shirey_IMG_0471.CR2 when i open this file in helicon focus 6, it is extremely bright, and when i compose a stack of them the output is also extremely bright. in fact, this file is actually a bit under-exposed. if you need more files to run a stack, i will prov...

raw file burnout
when i load cr2 or nef files into helicon focus versiopn 6, they get completely burned out. there was a way to fix this in version 5 under preferences, but version 6 does not appear to offer this option. any suggestions?

Re: 250 Image limit
i have frequently had to split a stack between cards and there is no problem with this as long as you are using a decent tripod, use a gentle touch, and use the camera filenames. the only time i run into trouble with split stacks is when i run past 9999 on the counter.

Re: ordering a split stack in version 6
ordering by date/time would be ideal. that would solve the problem. but HF6 does not provide this option. our only choice is ascending or descending filename.

cannot open helicon focus 6 tif output
i am outputting tif files from hf6, and all of a sudden adobe cannot read them: "could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."

Re: Color Correction
brightness is not the problem. the problem is color value. when a cloud crosses the sun, everything shifts from warm colors to cooler ones. when the cloud passes by, everything goes back. i can make some brightness adjustment myself by keeping an eye on the exposure meter, but adjusting for temperat...
