Babbage Engine

I forgot to post this back to the forum this year. This is a gigapixel image of the Babbage's Difference Engine #2 shot from 7 feet away. Stacked and Stitched http://www.xrez.com/case-studies/exhibi ... ce-engine/

Re: saving steps and repeatable

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Stas. Yes I think this would be really useful. For example, I was just stepping through a 600 image position and there was some sort of error that required me to restart the camera so I had to start over in finding the near and far points in my stack. This substan...

RAW + compressed large JPEG?

Strange I thought I would speed up the transfer and still verify focus by choosing to leave the RAW file on the camera and downloading the most compressed large jpeg. There is not the option in the "quality" drop down menu. But "RAW + Fine Large JPEG" is listed twice. Using it w/...

Re: saving steps and repeatable

Thanks Guys!

Didix, changing the focus adjusts the angle of view a bit. I want to make sure that the same stack is processed for each image so that all the images have the exact same angle of view. The stitching software works much better this way.

I would like to stitch images together after stacking and need a repeatable sequence. I am taking lots of images and want to be sure that if there is...

focal length

Just thought of another question.

What happens w/ focal length? I know that every time you adjust the focus of a camera that is subtly adjusts the angle of view of the lens. What happens when you render the composite, does it use the widest angle shot or the most telephoto?

image registration?

I am interested in using your tool for panoramic photography of landscapes. Can your tool do image registration if the images w/ a different focus have very slight difference in pan or tilt? There are two scenarios I can imagine, 1. I could re-shoot the same entire panorama (20 images or so) 3 or 4 ...
